Meet Martin Duffy, a passionate photographer from North Nottinghamshire, living amid the beautiful Sherwood Forest.

Hi everyone, I’m Martin Duffy, and I’ve been a proud member of RRPS since 2022. Photography has always been a passion of mine, but it’s being part of this club that has really helped me grow—both as a photographer and as part of a community that loves to share, inspire, and learn from one another.

My photography journey started as a child in the 1980s with a Minolta Autopak camera. Back then, I was just snapping for fun. Fast forward to 2012 when my eldest son was born—buying my first proper DSLR, a Sony A35, was the spark I needed to take things more seriously. Since then, I’ve been hooked on capturing moments and constantly improving my craft.

The club has been instrumental for me. Whether it’s through competition nights, constructive critique, or simply seeing the incredible work other members produce, there’s always something to take away. I love how we all push each other to experiment and grow. Winning awards and achieving the BPE Level 5 this year was a personal highlight, but it’s the journey—and the support along the way—that’s made it meaningful.

I’m drawn to action sports, landscapes, and street photography, but I try to stay open to whatever catches my eye. It’s this variety that keeps things exciting. My trusty Sony A7iii and Sigma lenses are always with me, whether I’m shooting in Sherwood Forest (my backyard) or discovering new locations during my work travels.

Outside of photography, I spend as much time as I can with my family and our Labrador, Oban, who’s as photogenic as they come—when he sits still!

Being part of this club has shown me that photography isn’t just about the images; it’s about the people you meet and the stories you share along the way. I look forward to more shoots, more laughs, and more opportunities to learn from each other.
